Sonepat, September 6, 2025: BJP National Secretary Om Prakash Dhankhar today urged intellectuals, particularly legal experts, to play a decisive role in advancing the ‘One Nation, One Election’ campaign, describing it as a critical step toward national development. Speaking at a national conference on the topic held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University in Sonepat, Dhankhar emphasized that the frequent election cycles drain the nation’s resources, time, and finances, stalling development and governance.

Dhankhar highlighted that the Modi government has prioritized national interest over party politics by pushing for simultaneous elections to break the recurring electoral cycle. He noted that repeated elections halt development projects and prevent administrative bodies from making policy decisions, even disrupting routine tasks. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set aside party interests to champion this cause, aligning with the vision of a developed India,” Dhankhar said, adding that the BJP’s policy remains “nation first, party later.”

He called on the intellectual community, especially legal scholars, to lead the effort to remove this major obstacle to progress, asserting that their expertise could help realize Modi’s vision. Dhankhar also criticized certain opposition leaders for leveling baseless accusations against constitutional institutions after being repeatedly rejected by voters, urging them to respect the democratic process and the framework established by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Dhankhar pointed to India’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, attributing it to Modi’s policies and the public’s trust in his leadership. He stressed that both the PM’s resolve and the people’s aspirations converge on building a developed nation, making it imperative for intellectuals to support the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative. Other speakers at the event echoed this sentiment, reaffirming their commitment to advancing the campaign for the nation’s benefit.

The conference saw the presence of notable figures including Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma, Prof. Balram Pani (Dean of Colleges, Delhi University), Prof. Rusal Singh (Principal, Ramanujan College, Delhi University), and Prof. Ashutosh Mishra (Registrar, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat). Prof. Devendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university, joined online and expressed gratitude to all attendees. Dhankhar was warmly welcomed by Registrar Prof. Ashutosh Mishra upon his arrival.
