Negligence in Development Works Will Not Be Tolerated: CM Nayab Singh Saini
Haryana CM reviews flood management, infrastructure projects in Fatehabad; issues strict deadlines and quality directives
Chandigarh, October 30 (NewsArc) – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday issued a stern warning against negligence in development works, asserting that the state government prioritises public welfare and timely, high-quality project execution. Chairing a district-level review meeting with officers at the Fatehabad Rest House, the CM directed swift action on flood control, waterlogging, irrigation, roads, sewerage, and drinking water infrastructure.
Saini ordered the widening of the Hisar-Ghaggar Drain to enhance water discharge from flood-prone areas and instructed the Irrigation Department to explore concrete-lining the drain in villages to prevent soil erosion and blockages. He also called for an alternative water discharge route to ease pressure on Ottu Lake.
Emphasising immediate relief for farmers, the CM directed authorities to clear waterlogging promptly to enable timely crop sowing and identify low-lying areas for a long-term monsoon-proof plan. On crop damage compensation, he stressed swift verification of portal data through physical checks to ensure transparent and fair payouts to genuinely affected farmers.
Reviewing paddy procurement, Saini mandated purchase from all registered farmers in district mandis and completion of portal verifications without fail.
**Chilli Lake, Roads, and Urban Infrastructure Under Scrutiny**
The CM reviewed the Chilli Lake Project, directing the Deputy Commissioner to submit regular progress reports from all departments. He warned of strict action against substandard work and mandated land acquisition via the e-Bhoomi portal, allowing full 4-kanal plot purchases if landowners agree.
On urban infrastructure, Saini ordered early completion of HUDA waterworks in Fatehabad sectors for clean drinking water supply. The Public Works Department (PWD) was named nodal agency for road and sewerage works, with instructions to finish all repairs before winter and expedite widening of 40 roads. He stressed laying sewerage and water lines before new road construction to avoid future digging.
“No compromise on quality,” Saini asserted, directing monthly reviews by the Deputy Commissioner and action against errant officers or contractors.
**Healthcare, Cleanliness, and Bhuna Drainage**
The CM set a current financial year deadline for the 200-bed hospital under construction in Fatehabad. Urban Local Bodies were told to complete works in regularised colonies and boost cleanliness through awareness campaigns and competitions.
In Bhuna, Saini reviewed a municipal proposal for draining water from Agrasen Chowk to the drain, urging feasibility checks and swift execution. He also pushed for completion of a Rs 10.47-crore pipeline project to resolve rainwater accumulation.
Present at the meeting were former Minister Devender Singh Babli, former MLA Dudaram, SC Commission Chairman Ravindra Baliyal, BJP District President Praveen Joda, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vivek Bharti, SP Sidhant Jain, and other senior officials.
