Haryana CM Disburses ₹858 Crore Under Welfare Schemes, Farmers Get Lion’s Share
Nayab Singh Saini releases funds for agriculture incentives, women empowerment and household subsidies in major push for inclusive development
Chandigarh, January 17, 2026 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday digitally released over ₹858 crore under multiple flagship welfare schemes, marking a significant boost to the state’s farmers, women beneficiaries, and households.
The massive financial disbursement includes ₹659 crore for farmers under five agriculture-related schemes, ₹181 crore for women under the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, and ₹18.56 crore as cooking gas cylinder subsidies.
Farmers at the Forefront
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Saini emphasized that farmers remain central to government policy, with sustained efforts aimed at making agriculture profitable and future-ready. “We are supporting farmers at every stage—from seed to market,” the Chief Minister said.
The agricultural assistance breaks down as follows:
- ₹461.75 crore as incentives to 5.54 lakh farmers who refrained from burning crop residue under the Crop Residue Management Scheme
- ₹85.10 crore as subsidy for 9,885 crop residue management machines
- ₹75.54 crore to 31,605 farmers adopting Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR)
- ₹15.75 crore to 13,500 farmers under the Mera Pani–Meri Virasat scheme for Kharif season 2025-26
- ₹20 crore as price difference compensation to 4,073 farmers cultivating potato and cauliflower under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana
The focus on crop residue management comes as Haryana continues its battle against stubble burning, a major contributor to air pollution in the National Capital Region.
Women Empowerment Takes Center Stage
The government released the third installment of the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, benefiting 8.63 lakh women with ₹181 crore transferred directly to their bank accounts. With this disbursement, total funds released under the scheme have reached ₹441 crore across three installments.
Launched on September 25, 2025, coinciding with Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s 109th birth anniversary, the scheme’s mobile application has witnessed encouraging participation. Nearly 10 lakh women applied through the app by December 31, 2025, of whom 8.63 lakh were found eligible.
In a major expansion announced by Saini, the scheme’s income eligibility threshold has been raised from ₹1 lakh to ₹1.80 lakh per annum effective January 2026, enabling more families to access benefits.
The scheme now also covers mothers whose children study in government schools and have either secured over 80 percent marks in Class 10 or 12 board examinations, achieved grade-level competency under the NIPUN Bharat Mission, or been successfully rehabilitated from severe or moderate acute malnutrition. These benefits are subject to Parivar Pehchan Patra verification, with conditions that annual family income not exceed ₹1.80 lakh and the mother has no more than three children.
Under the scheme, each eligible woman receives ₹2,100 monthly. From February 2026, ₹1,100 will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ savings accounts, while ₹1,000 will be deposited in government-operated recurring or fixed deposit accounts. The accumulated amount with interest will be paid upon maturity, ensuring both immediate support and long-term financial security.
Household Relief Through Gas Subsidy
The government also released ₹18.56 crore as gas cylinder refill subsidy under the Har Ghar–Har Grihini Yojana, benefiting 6.08 lakh women. The scheme ensures eligible women receive a gas cylinder monthly at a subsidized cost of ₹500.
The subsidy released Saturday pertains to October 2025, with November and December 2025 subsidies to be disbursed shortly.
Commitment to Holistic Development
Chief Minister Saini credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership for these initiatives, stating they reflect a holistic development approach aimed at strengthening social security and improving citizens’ quality of life statewide.
“These initiatives demonstrate our government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive and people-centric governance,” Saini said, adding that the measures would significantly impact agricultural sustainability, women’s empowerment, and household welfare.
The event was attended by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, Additional Chief Secretary G. Anupama, Principal Secretary Pankaj Agarwal, and other senior government officials.
The substantial financial outlay comes as Haryana positions itself as a progressive state balancing agricultural innovation with social welfare, ensuring benefits reach the grassroots level through digital disbursement mechanisms.
