Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 3, 2025 – The Indian Embassy in Riyadh concluded its Pravasi Parichay 2025 series with a grand celebration of “Gita Mahotsav – A Musical Presentation,” dedicated to the eternal teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and India’s ancient civilizational heritage.

The cultural event commenced with a video message from Union Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Kirtivardhan Singh, setting the tone for an evening that celebrated India’s spiritual and cultural legacy.

Musical Tribute to Sacred Text

The centerpiece of the event was a musical presentation performed by talented students of Vaidehi Dance Academy, Riyadh. Through a harmonious blend of music, dance and theatre, the performance brought to life the Gita’s eternal messages of duty, selfless action and spiritual balance.

The audience lauded the presentation for its depth, artistic excellence and emotional impact, as it depicted the timeless wisdom of the ancient scripture through contemporary artistic expression.

Ambassador’s Message

Addressing the gathering, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan emphasized that “Gita Mahotsav” represents the embassy’s commitment to strengthening cultural bonds that connect the Indian diaspora community with India’s civilizational and spiritual heritage.

“This celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on the universal values of harmony, duty and selfless action that are enshrined in the Bhagavad Gita,” Dr. Khan said.

The ambassador also noted that the Gita Mahotsav in Riyadh resonates with the spirit of the International Gita Mahotsav scheduled to be held later this month in Kurukshetra, Haryana – the historic land where Lord Krishna delivered the Gita’s teachings to Arjuna.

Distinguished Presence

The event was graced by the presence of Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award recipient Smt. Pratibha Prahlad, adding prestige to the cultural celebration.

Part of Larger Cultural Initiative

The Gita Mahotsav was organized as part of the Pravasi Parichay series, a flagship cultural initiative launched by the Indian Embassy in 2023. The series aims to promote and preserve India’s rich and vibrant cultural traditions through active participation of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia.

“Gita Mahotsav – A Musical Presentation” exemplified this vision by presenting a seamless integration of art, devotion and philosophy in a format that proved inspirational and spiritually enriching for audiences of all age groups.

The event underscored the embassy’s continuing efforts to keep the Indian diaspora connected to their cultural roots while showcasing India’s soft power and ancient wisdom in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The successful conclusion of the Pravasi Parichay 2025 series marks another milestone in cultural diplomacy between India and Saudi Arabia, strengthening people-to-people ties through shared appreciation of timeless spiritual teachings and artistic excellence.
