Gurugram’s Long-Blocked 24-Metre Road Finally Opens After CM-Led Push and Godrej Properties Land Buy

Years of congestion end for over 7,000 Sector 85 residents as Haryana Chief Minister’s grievance committee intervention and Godrej Properties’ swift land acquisition unlock critical connectivity to Dwarka Expressway
Thousands of families in Gurugram’s Sector 85 can finally breathe easier. A 24-metre sector road that connects their neighbourhood to the multi-utility corridor and Dwarka Expressway has been opened after years of being blocked by a privately-owned land parcel — ending a daily ordeal that had forced residents to navigate narrow, congested internal routes.
The breakthrough came after the matter was escalated to the District Public Grievance & Redressal Committee, chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The resolution hinged on a decisive move by Godrej Properties, which purchased the private plot obstructing the road’s continuity, clearing the way — literally — for the link to be opened for public use.

Speaking at the inauguration, Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh credited the collective effort that made it possible. “I would like to express my gratitude to all the Haryana government officials and to Godrej Properties, who demonstrated promptness in resolving this issue,” he said, acknowledging the years of effort that preceded this outcome.
Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram, Ajay Kumar, echoed that sentiment, noting that the grievance committee mechanism had proved its worth. “Under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and with the collective efforts of the team, a solution was found,” he said, also thanking local farmers and community stakeholders who played a part in the resolution.
Geetika Trehan, CEO – North Zone, Godrej Properties, said the company was glad to have supported a government-led initiative that addresses a genuine public need. “The new 24-metre road significantly improves connectivity and enhances everyday safety and convenience for residents,” she said.
For residents, the impact is already tangible. Travel times have dropped, peak-hour congestion has eased, and the sense of relief is palpable across the community. Wing Commander (Retd.) R.D. Deshpande, Secretary of resident welfare body RAWS (Rise Always Welfare Society), described the opening as a turning point. “The difference will be tangible in the lives of more than 7,000 people,” he said, thanking the minister, district authorities, and Godrej Properties for finally acting on a problem the community had flagged for years.
Advocate and Godrej Air resident Monika Singh was equally forthright in her appreciation. “This will ease the life of thousands of residents of Godrej Air,” she said, welcoming the company’s decision to acquire the obstructing plot and restore the road link that had always been part of the area’s original layout.
With the road now fully operational, Sector 85’s more than 7,000 residents have regained the direct, safe access to the wider road network that should have been theirs from the start.
